Sincerely,

I would dream about people

I had never met

But years down the road

I find them at my doorstep

Stick figures of my imagination

Now three-dimensional

People to love

And love me back

A love I know is credible

The roommate turned sister,

A class friend became my best,

My platonic soulmate,

Oh, how I am ever so blessed

The girls that included me

Every time,

I’ll love them forever

A girl from my youth, my chosen family,

I’ll never leave them

No matter the endeavor

Some, physically distant

But sitting comfortably in my heart

We talk and laugh like no time passed

Not ever truly apart

I would scream at the sky

When I was a little kid

Cursed the way I looked

Thought I’d never fit in

But as I’ve grown up

I’ve watched my table fill

Then empty

And to the ones

Who have always stayed

This is for you, you fill my heart

More than plenty.
